Amazon Prime Video App Reviews

Nice modern player

The X-ray feature is pretty cool if not distracting at times. Rating looses one star for occasionally dropping sound on auto-play of following episode (scroll forth and back to fix). Player looses another star for limited content compared to Netflix Canada.

Cant watch from iPad to TV

Using a cable to get from my iPad to my TV, the app goes from watching video (on iPad), to buffering once plugged into TV. Kind of a bad debut for a $99 price tag. Being that this service has been available in the USA for quite some time you would think they have this figured out.

Poor selection

There are maybe 200 English titles across Movies and TV for Canada. Amazons own originals arent even fully watchable. What?! This is a pretty weak first step into the Canadian market. Remember what happened with Target. Give it a real shot or dont bother.

In SD ???

Is the 50s ? Why is this in standard definition or worse ? Looks like the old YouTube 360p format. Just terrible quality. Dont waste your time.

App is fine! Adjust video quality setting

To everyone complaining about the video quality, go to settings and change streaming to the highest quality, looks great!

Dont bother

The entire library is only about 60 titles. There is 6-7 Amazon tv shows and then maybe 50 10-20 year old movies like The Mummy or Braveheart, half of which you have never heard of, and most of the ones you have are either currently or have recently been on Netflix. There is only a few weeks worth of content but you have to pay for the whole year at once. TBH even if I was silly enough to spend $80 a year to get a package a day faster, I wouldnt even download Prime Video, its not even worth having for free.

Questionable quality video

The video selection is "okay". But the video quality is highly questionable. On Amazon iPad app streaming quality versus usage options are Good 0.6GB/hr, Better 1.3GB/hr, and Best at 5.3GB/hr... yikes! To compare Netflix is 0.3, 0.7, and 3GB for per hour. Keep in mind that even the Better quality option on Amazon is terrible, with opening credits text being illegible and heavily pixelled. Only Best at 5.3GB is even watchable (still with artifacts) on Amazon on iPad, while 0.6GB/hr Netflix looks great on my 46 inch Sony TV. What kind of primitive compression is Amazon using? That being said, I do applaud their arrival in Canada, giving cable cutters options.

Superior!!

New movies and dramas continue to be added, nice privilege for Amazon prime members!!

Terrible!

Old movies. Limited content. Awful quality. Stick with Netflix.

False advertising

I was really looking forward to watching "The Man in the High Castle", binging the first season. However for some reason, we dont even have season 2 of the Man in the High Castle even though they own the series... Theyre also false advertising the app, since theyre using pictures of films and shows on the app store that are not even offered in Canada.

Just terrible

Awful service, just about everything that is advertised is "Not available due to geographical restrictions",silly condescending messages from customer service, a complete waste of time

Not enough movies!!!

The selection is weak.....need more movies and tv shows!

Complete and utter rubbish

Im sorry to say but content is unwatchable. Streaming quality is rubbish. amazon we can do better. A lot better.

Bad picture quality

Streaming from iPhone or iPad to AppleTV is in SD even though best quality is selected in the settings. Never had a problem with Netflix. Please fix, unwatchable on a big screen.

Buggy and slim Pickens

The app is quite a struggle to stream from an iPad to an ATV. If you pause it drops the link. Very hard to get started as well. They could never have tested it!!! Nuts! As for the choice in content, I am completely underwhelmed. Its as bad as the app! Hope it gets better soon or I will be out. Bought the service to watch The Grand Tour. Only the last episode was any good. Could be a very short romance!

Poor Airplay

Video starts to AirPlay fine. After a few minutes it will start playing the picture from the start but the audio will continue throwing everything completely out of sync. A company like Amazon should be able to do better.

:(

*available in the United States* grrr. I want to stream to my roku. Would be nice if there was an Amazon prime roku channel in Canada!

Very pleased to have it available!

I am a long time Amazon Prime client and I am very happy that now there is an Amazon Prime Video available in Canada as well. The selection of movies and series is not very big yet, but I am sure it will grow in time. The streaming quality is not always crystal clear, but it is not an impediment for watching the movies I like on my iPad or my iPhone. I would love to be able to have this app on my Samsung TV.

Some issues, needs work but ok

Quality is ok. Show selection about 20% compared to Netflix. Needs to get the Amazon exclusives... that baffles the mind. Also some issues with subtitles ex: in godfather the Italian parts are not subtitles so i loose 20% of what is being said... still overall decent if you consider it a free perk, would not get prime just for this though

Seriously?

And I thought Netflixs selection was bad.
